The Town's Water and Sewerage Systems are monitored and managed by Town Office under a Water and Sewerage Strategy, which was developed in 2003. The Town's water supply is pumped to a storage pond (located at Rocky Point) from 9 shallow aquifer bores before being gravity fed to the Town from a 200,000 GAL elevated storage reservoir. Currently, the water is treated with lime and a chlorination station is planned for introduction later this year. Most of our water supply is replenished during the wet season so Town Office still imposes water restrictions on domestic and commercial usage. The sewerage system is a combination of gravity and pump stations. The sewerage is collected at a final pump station before being pumped into retention ponds and then discharged into the Mission River. Currently, Rio Tinto hold the licences for the sewerage ponds. |
