Weipa Library is structured to meet the evolving community
needs of the future, where visits to a library will be an enjoyable experience, fulfilling a wide range of expections, in addition to the purpose of reading. learning and borrowing books

    Monday - 2pm - 4.30pm
    Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 9am - 1pm & 2pm - 4.30pm
    Thursday 9am - 1pm & 2pm - 7.30pm & Saturday 9am - 12.30pm

    Who can borrow?

    • Members of Weipa Library can borrow items
    • Membership is available to residents and /or ratepayers of Queensland, businesses or organisation based in Weipa.

    How do you join?

    • Residents, businesses or organisation can join at the Weipa Library, or download the application for Adult membership and bring the completed form and required ID with you
    • Children under 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult for the provision of ID. Download HIBBERD LIBRARY JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP
    • Visitors may become members upon payment of a refundable deposit.

    What can be borrowed?

    • Books - Fiction and non-fiction for children and adults, including large print format.
    • Magazines
    • Cassettes
    • Talking books
    • Videos

    How many Items can be borrowed?

    • Up to 14(forteen) items at one time can be borrowed.
    • 12 books and 2 videos
    • You may reserve any item currently on loan to another borrower. The Library will notify you when the item is available for collection. Please follow the link and fill out the form. Book Requests

    How long can items be borrowed?

    • 3 weeks
    • If you require items for longer period, contact the library in person, by phone to extend your loan. The library can arrange a further 3 weeks extension, providing another member has not reserved the items.

    How are items returned?

    • Items may be returned to the library at any time. There is an after-hours return bin at the libraries front door.
