This is the Industrial site in Weipa; however, due to its location it does include some Tourist Commercial and Community and Special Use/Open Space Zoning. Much of the land on the foreshore is Ports Corporation QLD freehold land.
Industrial
The main industrial site is on Iraci Crescent which includes: three takeaways shops, hardware, white goods shop,boat shop, home brew shop, shell service station, two earthmoving companies, two freight companies, two motor mechanics, panel beaters, three contracting companies, one welding company and one service station. An additional 10 new industrial lots have been developed to provide more opportuntiy foe development.
Ports Corporation QLD - Their office is adjacent the Evans Landing Wharf and has one staff member. They own a significant portion of the foreshore land including the port areas and Evans Landing Wharf on the Embley River.
Department of Primary Industries - Boating and Fisheries are located at Evans Landing. They have two regular staff.
Shell Direct - They are manned with 4 staff and their primary function is to support Comalco mining operations. They have three operational product tanks with a capacity of 15 million gallons.
Army Depot - B Coy 51 Far North Queensland Regiment is an Army Reserve Unit with 5 regular staff. Their primary function is to provide security and surveillance on the Western Cape.
State Emergency Services (SES) and Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) - The SES and VMR depot has a training room, marine communication centre and houses two rescue boats.
Community and Special Use/Open Space
Predominately Park and open space zoning land along the foreshore with a veterinary clinic and laundry. Much of this land has been identified for surrender to the Traditional Owners.
Customs and AQIS - Are co-located and have three permanent staff. Customs primary function is apprehend foreign illegal fisherman in the gulf region and to conduct clearances of international shipping for Rio Tinto. AQIS are to monitor and prevent diseases and pests entering the Cape.
Weipa Airport - Is located 13 kilometers from Weipa and is managed by Weipa Air Charter. Weipa Travel Center provides administration support for the QANTASLINK flights and there is two car rentals companies (Weipa Rent-A-Car and Thrifty Car Rentals) and Queensland Air Services.
Tourist Commercial
The Western Cape Cultural Centre and the Cape York Land Council (CYLC) are located at Evans Landing.
