All dogs and cats (changes to the Cats and Dogs Management ACT stipulate that all cats must be registered by the 11th December 2010) located within the town boundary over the age of 6 months must be registered. Registration for the year 2010/11 is currently $30.80 for an entire dog and $15.40 for a desexed dog (certificate must be presented) per annum. Registration for cats will be free if registered from 1st July - 31st Dec 2010, after this date registration fees will be as per dog registration fees. Registration periods are from 1st July - 30th June each year. To register your dog click here to dowload the registration form and return the completed form to the Weipa Town Office, where you will be given a tag for your dogs collar. If your dog or cat has lost it's tag replacements can be bought from Weipa Town Office for $8.20.

A maximum of 2 dogs are allowed per house and 1 dog allowed per unit/flat. A permit may be granted for one additional dog per house or unit/flat (Body Corporate permission will be required if applicable). Additional dog applications can be downloaded by clicking here. Applications will need to be submitted to Weipa Town Office with the application fee of $25.60 an additional $51.30 will be payable on approval of the permit. Additional dog permits ($51.30) are renawable with registrations as of 1st July each year.
