DOG REGISTRATION Dog registration has many purposes other than raising revenue. Upon a dog owner registering their dog along with the registration tag should be a brochure outlining the responsibilities of a dog owner. The brochure will cover- registration- vet visits- benefits of desexing- laws covering dog control-nuisance laws (barking)- kennels- anti barking collars. Purpose of Registration. To find management programs in a fair way by only taxing dog owners.  Provide basic population data about local dogs.  To allow lost dogs to be united with their owners. Provide proof of ownership should the need arise.  Encourage desexing through discounted registration fees for desexed dogs.  To limit or prevent ownership of restricted dogs.  To provide a means to or prevent dogs being owned in certain types of residences (flats, duplex)  To ensure dog owners interact with Town Office staff at least once a year at the time of registration.  To ensure dog owners understand the responsibilities & obligations of dog ownership.
